Fermion Algorithms

With the development of new parallel and faster vector computers many of us became interested in simulations with dynamical fermions, which could not be performed in the past. The central problems in these simulations, such as the efficient inversion of the fermion matrix, or the handling of critical slowing down, are common to most approaches. They appear in simulations performenced by particle physicists (lattice QCD ...) as well as statistical physicists (Hubbard model ...). It was the purpose of this workshop to bring together scientists from different branches in physics working on dynamical fermion problems and the development of new algorithms for new computer generations. We believe that the exchange of ideas between scientists working on problems in elementary particle and statistical physics will be useful in this context.
