Molecules in front of JUQUEEN

Research Group Computational Biophysical Chemistry in Jülich

The NIC research group Computational Biophysical Chemistry develops and applies structural bioinformatics, computational biology, and computational biophysics techniques in order to investigate the structure, dynamics, and function of biomolecular and supramolecular systems at the level of fundamental and applied research.

Head: Prof. Dr. Holger Gohlke
Site: Forschungszentrum Jülich

Research Group Computational Structural Biology in Jülich

The NIC Research Group Computational Structural Biology aims at quantitatively understanding the structural and dynamical molecular mechanism of biomolecules in HPC computer simulations.

Head: Dr. Alexander Schug
Site: Forschungszentrum Jülich

Teaser Forschungsgruppe Elementarteilchenphysik

Research Group Elementary Particle Physics at DESY-Zeuthen

The group performs research on quantum filed theories formulated on space-time lattices aimed at solving problems in elementary particle physics. Examples are the determination of parameters of the strong interaction theory, QCD, weak decays of heavy mesons, hadronic contributions to the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon and the simulation of effective field theories.

Head (since Juli 2009): Prof. Dr. Rainer Sommer
Site: DESY Zeuthen

Research Group Lattice Quantum Chromodynamics in Darmstadt

This research group works jointly with members of the lattice group at GU-Frankfurt on the properties of the strong interactions under extreme conditions. In particular, the long term goal is to determine the phase diagram of QCD as a function of temperature and baryon density, as well as the properties of matter in the hadron and quark gluon plasma phases directly from numerical simulations of lattice QCD.
