John von Neumann Institute for Computing (NIC)

The John von Neumann Institute for Computing (NIC) provides supercomputer capacity for projects in science, research and industry in the fields of modelling and computer simulation. NIC is a joint foundation of the three Helmholtz Centres Forschungszentrum Jülich, Deutsches Elektronensynchrotron DESY, and GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung and the Goethe University Frankfurt. It supports computational science in Germany and Europe.

GCS/NIC Computing Time Call

Computing time periods are yearly - with the possibility of application twice per year - and will begin 1 May and 1 November each year. Applications for the next period (1 May 2026 to 30 April 2027) may be submitted from 12 January to 9 February 2026, 17:00 CET.

NIC Symposium 2025

The 12th NIC Symposium took place from 6 to 7 March 2025. It gave an overview of the activities of the John von Neumann Institute for Computing (NIC) and of the results obtained by research groups supported by the NIC.
